Dobbins to take over the girls soccer program as head coach

Patrick Dobbins will take the reins as head coach of Hoban’s girls soccer team, according to athletic director Michael Del Medico.

Dobbins previously served as an assistant coach for Walsh University’s women’s soccer team in 1991 and head coach of the boys soccer team at Cuyahoga Falls High School from 2006 to 2011. In 2012 he guided Hoban’s junior varsity girls team to a 14-1-1 record. He has also coached at the youth, club and middle school levels.

A 1987 Hoban graduate, Dobbins played four years for the Knights soccer team and earned All-State honors. His soccer career continued at Walsh University, where he was a four-year starter for the Cavaliers. He is a 2002 inductee into the Hoban Athletic Hall of Fame.

Dobbins and his wife Kathy reside in Cuyahoga Falls. They have four children: Maggie, an adult; Alex, a freshman at Kent State; Ashley, a Hoban freshman; and Emily, a sixth-grader at Immaculate Heart of Mary.

For almost 60 years, alumni, parents and friends have responded generously to the various fundraising programs at Hoban. Fundraising is especially important because as a private institution Hoban does not receive general public funding or diocesan subsidies. Tuition alone does not cover the cost of operating.
