Banglabash


Banglabash is an annual student-sponsored event to raise money for Holy Cross schools in Bangladesh.  The 2009 Banglabash events came to a close March 12 when the faculty basketball team, FAST, defeated the student team in an assembly.  The annual fundraiser raised $12, 890, easily exceeding its $10,000 goal.  Hoban efforts will result in continued scholarships for students to attend our fellow Holy Cross schools in Bangladesh and provide a first-ever computer lab at St. Philip’s High School in Dinajpur. 
Hoban students also raised significant funds for Biroidakuni High School, Bangladesh, where Brother Bikash D’Rozario, S.J., is Headmaster.

Brother Subal Rosario, S.J., Headmaster at St. Philip's, wrote to Brother Ken Haders, Hoban president:

“On behalf of Bishop Moses Costa, C.S.C., our School Managing Committee, our staff and student body, I thank you for your generous contribution toward the newly-proposed computer laboratory.  This gift will be a great help to our students as they will now have access to learning the computer in school, including the Internet.  Needless to say, hardly any of our students have computers at home, so this school facility will help them quench their thirst for knowledge of how the present world is benefited by computers.  They have been hearing about computers, but now they will have a firsthand experience of working with them.”

Hoban students had fun with the Banglabash activities, including the T-shirt sale, rice bowl, hot dog day and especially the basketball game (pictures below).
