Archaeology students to excavate historical cemetery

Students in Archaeological Studies will travel to the Butler-Morgan Cemetery just south of Wooster Oct. 12-15. They will leave Hoban at 7:30 a.m. each day and return by 3 p.m. (traffic permitting). This 18th century cemetery has been abandoned, and the exact location and number of graves is uncertain. There are at least three Revolutionary War soldiers buried there. The students will excavate the area to locate grave shafts for future reference. They are working in connection with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Moreland Historical Society. The students will be entirely in charge of the field excavation and are required to submit an end report to the ODNR and the Cultural Resource Management Office in Columbus.
