Recent graduate Ayaka Coffman was a semifinalist in the Beacon Journal’s Star Students feature published July 5. Tanner Guld received honorable mention. High schools from the five-county area were asked to nominate two students. The Newspaper in Education editor narrowed the field to 52 semifinalists, from which a panel of three judges selected the top 30 Star Students. Each student was asked to complete a questionnaire, which the judges used in making their selections.
