Hoban announces new boys volleyball coach

Archbishop Hoban High School is pleased to announce Marcy Nicolae as its new head boys volleyball coach. Nicolae brings over 20 years of playing and coaching experience at every level of volleyball, and is excited to return to coaching at the high school level.

"I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to be the head boys volleyball coach at Archbishop Hoban High School,” Nicolae said. “I want to thank all the staff for their belief in me and for welcoming me to Hoban. I am excited to start training our team and to help get them to the next level."

Nicolae played professional volleyball in Romania at “Braiconf” Braila, and was a four-year varsity player at “Dunarea de Jos” University in Galati, Romania. She began her coaching career in Galati as well, coaching girls volleyball at the high school level. After moving to the United States, Nicolae became the head varsity coach at Our Lady of the Elms. She then transitioned to the college level as an assistant coach at Baldwin Wallace University before returning to the high school level as the head boys volleyball coach at Medina High School. She has spent the past three years coaching 7th grade at Buckeye Local Schools.

“I am excited to welcome Coach Nicolae as our new boys volleyball coach,” Director of Athletics Matt Bing said. “Marcy brings a wealth of volleyball knowledge and experience, and we look forward to what her vision will add to our boys volleyball tradition.”
