For the third time in 15 years, both of Hoban's Mock Trial teams competed in the state championship. The Gold Team battled to the final round, held on Saturday, March 9 at the Ohio Supreme Court, against Springfield High School. The Gold Team lost in a split decision and finished second in the state. The Blue Team finished fifth in the state, also losing by one point to Springfield High School.
Collectively, Hoban competed in nine trials throughout the competition and received several individual awards:
Best Attorney: Kevin Elliott, Kate Folk (two-time winner) and Carolyn Rinaldi
Best Witness: Danielle Ferree, Logan Adams (two-time winner) and Sophia Burgoyne (two-time winner)
Although the group's goal was to win the state title, we are beyond proud of both teams for finishing second and fifth out of more than 300 teams who competed in this year's OCLRE competition. Thank you to Mr. Jared Topp, Mock Trial adviser, and the many legal professionals who support the Hoban students throughout their season, which begins in the fall.
