Medical mission to Honduras is modified by pandemic

Last month, more than 30 suitcases of medicine and supplies left in Honduras last year for the January 2021 medical mission were delivered to the Santa Rosa de Lima Clinic at Nuevo Paraiso for free distribution to those in need. Many of the meds would have expired before the next in-person medical mission, hopefully in January 2021.

Since the devastation from the two recent hurricanes was so extensive, Dr. Omar and the staff at the clinic decided to send a truckload of medicines and supplies from our donation to help those in need in the north, a great idea to help those most in need now.

Plans are being made for the purchase and distribution of non-prescription medicine and supplies to 4,000 people in the communities we would have served in January as part of the modified medical mission, along with financial assistance to those Hondurans who helped us last year. It has also been suggested that we make a donation to Sociedad Amigos de los Niños in memory of Sister Maria Rosa for COVID relief.

To date, more than 100 gifts have been received to help with this $40,000 budgeted project.
