OHSAA cancels winter sports state tournaments

The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced Thursday that the winter sports tournaments of wrestling, basketball and ice hockey, which were postponed indefinitely on March 12, are now cancelled due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. It is anticipated that schools will not be able to reopen for many weeks, which prevents interscholastic athletics from taking place. Read the OHSAA announcement.

Hoban senior Jake Burns was scheduled to compete in Columbus in the heavyweight state competition on March 13. Burns has 43 wins, two losses for the season. He has a 100+ career-win record, is the NCL Champion, Defiance Tri-State Champion and Sectional and District Champion. Burns, wrestling head coach Shaun Tompkins, his staff and team worked incredibly hard this season and Hoban is very proud of their accomplishments.
