Hoban announces search for school president and names interim leadership

The Hoban board of directors is initiating a leadership search for the position of school president to replace Dr. Thomas J. Curry, the outgoing president. During the transition, effective Jan. 25, Brother James Spooner, CSC, will serve as interim president.

Brother James has served at Hoban since 2004. Prior to his time at Hoban, he was president of St. Edward High School in Lakewood for 13 years. St. Edward, like Hoban, is a Holy Cross high school sponsored by the Brothers of Holy Cross.

“Brother James has devoted his career to Catholic education while instilling in our students the values, attitudes and behaviors that reflect the mission of our Holy Cross foundation,” said William Scala, board chair of Hoban. “As interim president, he will continue to provide steady, thoughtful leadership to the Hoban community.”

During the transition period, the board of directors will begin interviewing  for a qualified candidates wh meets the high standards associated with Hoban.

“On behalf of the entire Hoban community, I thank Dr. Curry for his service to our school,” Scala said. “We appreciate his insight as an educator and a parent, and all that he has done to advance the Hoban mission. We wish him all the best and success in his future endeavors.”
