Senior Alexis Smith received the 2019 Rose Juriga Memorial Youth Justice Award at the annual Bishop William Cosgrove Justice Dinner on Nov. 15 at the Tangier restaurant. Since her sophomore year Smith has been involved in Hoban’s Project HOPE, providing meals and fellowship to Akron's homeless. She volunteers regularly at local hospitals and in Haiti the past two summers. Campus minister Kelsey Sees nominated her. "I cannot think of a more deserving student for this award,” Sees said. “Alexis lives life for others with a sincere heart for justice."
