Students join rally for justice issues

A group of students attended the 17th annual Catholic Schools for Peace and Justice Mass and Rally for Life on Oct. 1. Over 400 students from 14 high schools in the diocese participated. Bishop Nelson Perez celebrated Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. After Mass, Bishop Perez joined the students in marching to Public Square for a rally. Students spoke on justice and life topics such as abortion, suicide and helping the disabled. Hoban's Jackie Turk spoke on the plight of the homeless, and Kayla Zurowski spoke on Pope John Paul II’s call to action for life. Students attending were Aaron Kornaker, Turk, Eva Klockner, Alexis Smith, and Zurowski. They were chaperoned by Amie Mancine and Chris Fahey.
