Art Career Field Experience students learn options for art careers

This semester 10 students participated in a new art course entitled "Art Career Field Experience." This after-school career-readiness class visited artists and art-related businesses to gather information about career options. Students met with Peter Kratcoski, jeweler and arts administrator of Courtney Cable, photographer Tim Fitzwater and sculptor Jon Comunale. They talked with staff at the Akron Art Museum and learned about graphic design from Whitespace Creative and Little Jacket. A highlight was hosting a visit from artist John Backderf. In April, the class flew to New York City to visit artists and designers, view museums and galleries and explore the city.
