Churyl Croone named admissions director

Churyl Croone named admissions director

Churyl Croone joins the Hoban leadership team as director of admissions as of March 2. Croone comes to Hoban from Cleveland State University and has a varied background in higher education admissions.

“I am thrilled to welcome Churyl to our team and as a new member of the Hoban family,” President Tom Curry said. “Churyl has significant experience in higher education admissions, with a focus on international recruitment. She will bring expertise in enrollment management, a commitment to helping students transition successfully and a love of teaching and learning.”

A Cleveland native and alumna of the Beaumont School for Girls, Croone has more than 15 years of admission experience with proven success in cultivating a student-centric admissions process and experience. She has worked in enrollment management, international admissions and financial assistance at the collegiate level, including Baldwin Wallace University, Case Western Reserve University and Notre Dame College.

Most recently, Croone was coordinator of international recruitment at Cleveland State University. In this role, she promoted a team-oriented approach to recruiting international students, organized admission and admitted-student events and facilitated recruitment sessions for both domestic and international students. Croone has also worked with a variety of populations, including first-generation, transfer, graduate, veteran and adult students.

“I am looking forward to making contributions that move Archbishop Hoban High School towards growth and sustainability,” Croone said. “There is a strong sense of community at Hoban, and I want to continue building bridges that foster leadership, compassion, integrity and inner strength.”

Croone earned a master’s in nonprofit management from Case Western Reserve University and a bachelor’s in linguistics, Spanish and education from Cleveland State University. She also has extensive experience as an ESL teacher.

“As we welcome Churyl, I want to express my deep gratitude to Julie Stieber, who has served Hoban for more than two years and who stepped down to move closer to family in Wisconsin,” Curry said. “Julie has been a wonderful leader and friend among our school community. I am grateful for the work she has done to advance the admissions office and has worked tirelessly throughout her final weeks to ensure a smooth transition for our new director.”
