Pep Band

Pep Band

This spring, Hoban announced that it will launch a new pep band in fall 2026, reviving a spirited musical tradition not seen on campus in decades. Performing at select athletic and school events, the pep band will energize the student experience and further strengthen the Hoban community.

Open to all Hoban students, the pep band will be taught by Hoban alumnus John Zazo ’15, who, as a student, was a member of Hoban’s steel drum band and played the snare drum in Hoban’s drum line. While previous musical experience and basic instrument knowledge are preferred, beginners are welcome to participate.

“We have many passionate musicians in our student body, and I want to give them another space where they have more opportunities to perform throughout the school year,” Zazo said. “Pep band is a perfect medium for such a space since we will be performing during our home games to support our student-athletes.”

An informational meeting for interested students and families will be held on Tuesday, June 9, at 5:30 p.m. in Hoban’s Moreau Ministry Hall. Those interested in learning more about joining the pep band are encouraged to attend. Students who are unable to attend the meeting but would like additional information should complete the interest form.

Mr. Zazo will also host a welcome meeting on Thursday, July 23, from 3–4 p.m. in Moreau Ministry Hall. Regular pep band rehearsals will take place every Thursday at 3 p.m., with the first rehearsal scheduled for Thursday, July 30.
