Social studies chair spearheads statue of Revolutionary War general

Social studies chair spearheads statue of Revolutionary War general

A six-foot bronze statue of Revolutionary War General David Wooster will soon stand in front of the Wayne County Library, thanks to the efforts of Hoban’s Jason Anderson, chair of the social studies department. Anderson, who lives in the city named after the general, became interested in Wooster while doing research for his master’s degree in American history at Ashland University. He enlisted the talents of sculptor Alan Cottrill and helped raise the $71,000 the project will cost. Wooster was not a slaveholder.
