Q: How can I access the SCOIR website?
A: Students set up their account at school.  Parents can click on create a free account.

Q: When should I apply to colleges?
A: Generally in the fall of the senior year, no later than early December. Colleges may have earlier deadlines based on selectivity and scholarship consideration.

Q: How do I request my transcript for a college application?
A: Email your college counselor at Hoban and also request a transcript for each college through SCOIR.

Q: What information is contained in a transcript?
A: Course history and current schedule

Q: When should the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) be submitted?
A: During the student’s senior year between Oct. 1 and Feb. 15, according to the priority deadline of the college.
 

Q: What is the deadline to notify the college you plan to attend?
A: May 1

Q: What do I need to do to participate in Division I, II or NAIA collegiate athletics?
A: Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center at ncaa.org and/or the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics at playnaia.org, and inform your college counselor.

Q: Who has information on scholarships, job shadowing and summer enrichment programs?
A: Information is located under Student Services College and Career Counseling on this website.

Q: How do students schedule an appointment with their counselor?
A: Students can email their counselor to request a meeting. Find your counselor HERE.

Q: How do I get a tutor? 
A: Students can request an appointment with a tutor by accessing the app on their school-issued iPad.

Q: How do I register for the ACT or SAT?
A: You register online by going to www.actstudent.org (ACT) or www.collegeboard.org (SAT)

Q: What is Hoban’s high school code (CEEB) to register for the ACT and SAT?
A: 360020

Q: Where do I obtain a class schedule change form?
A: Your school counselor

Q: Who has information about the Peer Mentoring program?
A: Peer Mentors serve as role models and discussion leaders for the underclassmen during large group guidance lessons (8 per year) during their junior and senior year.  Peer Mentors also assist with Orientation and the Activities Fair.  These students are meant to be a welcoming presence in the building to help the younger students settle into activities and sports and find their niche.  They are trained in communication skills and grow as leaders while in the program.  As role models within the student body, Peer Mentors display integrity, live healthy lifestyles and provide a positive image that younger students can admire and follow.

Q: How do I obtain a work permit?
A: Mrs. Coyne will supply you with the form and instructions
