Holy Cross Pathways
Opening Fall 2025-26
A journey toward independence and enhanced life skills, grounded in the Holy Cross tradition, as each student walks a path to academic success. Holy Cross Pathways will launch in Fall 2025, and applications are now open for incoming ninth-grade students.
Named in recognition of the school’s connection to and sponsorship by the Brothers of Holy Cross, Holy Cross Pathways provides a structured, supportive learning environment led by two full-time teachers, an intervention specialist and a student instructional aide.
Students enrolled at Hoban through the Holy Cross Pathways program will receive:
- Modified curriculum and instruction
- Tailored academic content to meet individual needs
- Elective courses alongside peers to foster inclusivity and community
- Focused instruction to support academic growth, career readiness and postsecondary preparedness
- Spiritual education Christian service and spiritual engagement opportunities and activities
- A high school diploma upon completion of the four-year program
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Email pathways@hoban.org to start the application process
- Submit a current ETR and IEP
- Complete FACTS application
- Tour Hoban's campus with the Office of Admissions
- Student interview and parent information session
- Observation of the student at their current school
- Communication with current teachers and specialists
PROFILE OF A STUDENT
- Entering freshman year of high school and at least 14 years old
- Have a current IEP, ETR and are eligible to enroll in the state of Ohio’s Jon Peterson Scholarship program
- Diagnosis of an intellectual disability or another diagnosis that indicates a need for specialized instruction in a special education, modified program
- Demonstrates levels of academic achievement in the 1st through 4th-grade range and indicates past success in learning environments
- Able to follow basic verbal and written instruction
- Demonstrates appropriate and safe behavior patterns that will meet the standards of a Hoban student
- Independent hygienic and travel skills
- The ability and willingness to interact socially and work in a group setting with minimal distraction to self and others
- The desire to grow spiritually through faith formation opportunities available at Hoban
It would be a serious mistake to open a school imagining that all the students will be alike in character and conduct. It will do little good, then, to use the same procedures in working with every student. You would be like a doctor who always gives the same remedy for every illness.
