Student-Athletes & Families

Before entering into a NIL agreement, it is the responsibility of each student-athlete to understand and adhere to Ohio's specific NIL rules. 

WHAT TO DO IF YOU RECEIVE A NIL OFFER

  1. Talk with your parent(s) or guardian(s)
  2. Be certain the deal follows all OHSAA rules
  3. Sign a contract only with parent/guardian involvement
  4. Submit the deal to OHSAA within the required timeline  (LINK)
  5. Inform Hoban you’ve signed a deal through the NIL Intake Form (informational only)

KEY REMINDERS

  • Don’t skip school or practice for NIL obligations
  • Don’t film or photograph NIL content on Hoban property
  • Don’t wear team gear in NIL posts
  • Protect your reputation—your personal brand is your reputation, your biggest asset and long-term

Do's & Don'ts

Student-Athletes are Permitted to:

  • Sponsor products/services using non-school clothing
  • Be compensated for appearances not connected to Hoban
  • Coach/instruct at non-Hoban camps
  • Sell personal-brand merchandise
  • Endorse legal products/services
  • Manage personal social media or content channels

Student-Athletes are Not Permitted to:

  • Use the Hoban logo, mascot, colors, fields, uniforms or facilities
  • Receive payment based on stats, wins or playing time
  • Receive payment as a reward for enrolling or staying at a school
  • Receive contracts arranged by Hoban employees or boosters
  • Perform any services under an NIL contract during practices, games, meetings or school hours
  • Accept partnerships with gambling, alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, adult entertainment or weapons industries
