Current Hoban faculty member Nick McCoy ’97 has been chosen as the head coach for the Hoban bowling program. He inherits a program that has been built and cultivated for the past 20 years by former head coach Dennis Holodnak, who passed away on Sept. 12.

“I have very big shoes to fill following the passing of the great Coach Denny,” McCoy said. “I intend to provide the same education of the sport that he did, along with a modernized outlook of the evolution of bowling.”

McCoy holds a communications degree from the University of Akron and also spent four years in the United States Navy. He has been bowling since elementary school and has bowled competitively for over 20 years. In his role as student support specialist at Hoban, McCoy supports the educational needs of students. Prior to returning to Hoban, he served as a social worker for 17 years for people with disabilities and coached bowling for six years in the Special Olympics.
