Absent Student Policy

ABSENT STUDENT
Parent or guardian calls student off to the attendance officer.
When a student is out for three consecutive days of school: When a student is out for a fifth day of school in a semester:
  • Attendance officer will notify dean of students and student's counselor.*
  • Attendance officer will send a letter home.
  • Attendance officer will notify dean of students and student's counselor.
When a student is out for five consecutive days of school: When a student is out for an eighth day of school in a semester:
  • Attendance officer will send letter home.
  • Attendance officer will notify dean of students and student's counselor.
  • Dean and counselor will call home.*
  • Attendance officer notifies dean of students.
  • Dean will call home.
  • Dean will notify student's counselor.*
When a student is out for 10 consecutive days of school: When a student is out for a 10th day of school in a semester
  • Attendance office will notify dean of students.
  • Dean will convene a meeting with associate principal for student services and student's counselor to determine next steps.​​​​​*
  • Contract or compassionate withdrawal may be considered.
  • Dean of students and student's counselor meet with parents.
  •  Teachers will be notified.
  • Meeting will result in contract with the potential for pass/fail and/or no credit.
  • Compassionate withdrawal may also be considered, given consultation with associate principal for student services and principal.
Contract:
Student's teachers will be made aware of agreed-upon contract.
Failure to meet terms of contract will result in disciplinary council hearing to determine student's continued enrollment.

* Student's teachers will be notified by counselor as necessary.
