Alternative Easter Break

Easter break is an exciting time for students. Some head for the beach, others relax with family and friends. But some Hoban students elect to depart from conventional Easter break activities and engage in Christian service.

Alternative Easter Breaks challenge students to think critically and respond to problems faced by members of the communities they serve. Being immersed in diverse environments enables participants to experience, discuss and understand social issues in a significant way. An alternative Easter break is a trip where a group of students (usually 10–12 per trip) engage in volunteer service, typically for a week.

Over Easter break 2019, the campus ministry office organized three options for students to grow in faith, fellowship and service. Students traveled to Sarasota, Fla., New Orleans, La., and Austin, Texas.
