Prayer of the Day

The Spes Unica is the symbol for the Congregation of Holy Cross and is Latin for "Hail to the Cross, our only hope."

Each school day at the beginning of second period, Hoban students and Holy Cross educators pause for prayer. An assigned reader announces the intentions and leads the prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance over the public address system. Check this page daily so that you may share in our prayers for the selected donors of the day, for each of us and for our world.

Prayer of the Day

  • God, help us recognize your presence with and within us. Let us dwell for a moment on God's life-giving presence in our bodies, minds and hearts. May we never be too busy to find time to spend in your presence. Grant that we may be conscious and grateful for all the good things you have given to us. May I share my blessings with others always. Amen.

Thought for the Day

From the writings of Blessed Basil Moreau, CSC, founder of the Congregation of Holy Cross:
  • Students should trained in such a way that they may be everywhere what they were in school. (Teacher's Guide)
The thoughts for each day are taken from Gravitating Toward God, compiled by Joel Giallanza, CSC, and published by the Holy Cross Institute at St. Edward's University, 3001 S. Congress Ave. CMB 757, Austin, Texas 78704-6489 USA
