Extravaganza began in 1986 with the help of parents and friends of Hoban. It started with a few items in a silent auction and a pot luck dinner, but over the years, the Extravaganza dinner-auction has turned into Hoban's single largest fundraising event. This elegant sit-down dinner, with open bar and live and silent auctions has grown with the help of staff, parents, students, teachers and community businesses. Proceeds from the auction have supported facility improvements, as well as technology upgrades.

2019 Extravaganza A Knight Under the Sea

Extravaganza took in a gross total of $673,328 in sponsorships and gifts—an all-time record! "This success is a reflection of the extraordinary generosity of the Hoban family, which is a true blessing," President Todd Sweda said.

The Bernard Foundation offered a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $60,000 in pledges. Amazingly, Hoban supporters exceeded the challenge by $32,575, for a record-breaking total of $152,575. This will be used for student scholarships and financial aid.

Special thanks to sponsors, including the title sponsors, Don Wartko Construction and the Wartko family and William ’71 and Sally Scala, as well as advertisers, donors, volunteers and guests.
