How will YOU experience Hoban?

Campus life at Hoban is anything but conventional—offering something for everyone to enjoy.

With countless student organizations focused on academics, athletics, faith, hobbies, music and more, the opportunities for you to discover new talents and new friends are virtually endless. Hoban's campus life aims to complement your academic experience by promoting a holistic education and cultivating a community that encourages self-discovery, leadership and service.

At Hoban, you can find a full calendar of social, fine art, athletic and cultural events—all waiting for you!

ANCHORED IN TRADITION

From annual events, such as Mum Day, to the singing of the alma mater after all-school Masses, traditions play a big part in what it means to be a Hoban Knight. These traditions bind our school community together and illustrate what it means to be a Knight.

COCURRICULARS

Hoban welcomes all students to explore their individual interests with a wide array of cocurricular opportunities. Student clubs and organizations provide ways for students to get involved in the life of the school, and provide opportunities for leadership and practicing organizational and teamwork skills. Through these activities, students create lifelong memories and friends.

STUDENT WELLNESS

Through the process of helping our students to completeness, Hoban invests in student wellness initiatives. As Catholic educators, we educate the entire person by fostering the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual wellness. In doing so, we maintain and strengthen a positive and safe learning environment for all.

Knights lead with values

A large aspect of the Hoban experience is the growth you will make, especially in your leadership skills. Becoming a leader is a lived experience that weaves into every aspect of your daily life. Rooted in our Holy Cross tradition, the core values guide you during your journey of personal growth, within Hoban's campus and beyond. Above all else, a Hoban leader serves others.

Knights have the opportunity to assume leadership roles in all areas of their student experience—inviting someone to sit with you during lunch, offering encouragement in the classroom, cheering from the bench and student section during a game, introducing a younger student to join a club—every student can learn and practice the skills necessary to become thoughtful and considerate leaders.

Campus Ministry

Hoban has allowed me to grow in my leadership skills through many opportunities. My most meaningful experience was attending the Holy Cross Conference for Student Leaders during the summer of 2024. The conference allowed me to bring new ideas to Hoban and share Hoban’s traditions with students from other Holy Cross schools. As a senior, I am also grateful to be a JAM Student Leader, student ambassador, peer mentor, highly involved in student council and a leader on the Hoban girls volleyball team.

Student Recognition

Winning the Dowed Award is an incredible honor that fills me with pride and gratitude. It represents not just my efforts, but also the support and guidance of those around me who have helped me grow. This recognition inspires me to continue striving for excellence and to uphold the values that the award embodies.

Leadership

Participating as a student leader at Hoban has been a great honor but also a great commitment. Being a leader requires having the ability to communicate with others and do it with an unbroken passion to build those people up, especially if they are struggling. Hoban has taught me so much about working with others who stem from various backgrounds and walks of life and also about supporting those people, bringing them in as part of our Hoban family.

—Tad, Class of 2025

Performing Arts

Hoban theatre is not only a place for performance but also a place that values family! It is always comforting to know you have a group of individuals who have your back like the friends I've made through Hoban Theatre. It makes putting on shows together as a cast all the more enjoyable!

Student Retreats

The Spes Unica retreat was the perfect opportunity for me to grow in my faith and cultivate new relationships with other students. Attending Spes Unica gave me the chance to step out of my comfort zone, form new friendships and talk about vulnerable topics in a safe environment. It is definitely one of my favorite Hoban memories and something I’ll remember for the rest of my life!

Immersion Trips

Choosing to go on the Europe trip in 2023 is definitely one the best decisions I have made during my time at Hoban. I had an amazing time experiencing Italian culture, especially through food and language and creating unexpected bonds with other students.

Cocurriculars: Mock Trial

From learning to “think like a lawyer” to gaining better public speaking skills, mock trial has become a family to me. Our coaches have poured countless time and energy into helping me and my teammates. The seniors welcomed me to the team and my team has become some of my closest friends.
