Summer 2027 Europe Trip

Hoban will once again offer students the opportunity to take part in its highly anticipated European trip in summer 2027. This journey will take students through some of the most remarkable cities and regions in Italy and France. Highlights include the fashion and energy of Milan, the canals of Venice, the spiritual and historical beauty of Padua, the art-filled streets of Florence, and the timeless wonders of Rome. Students will also enjoy the stunning coastal scenery of Cinque Terre and continue their adventure in the South of France. This trip is designed to inspire students through culture, history, and shared experiences that will stay with them for a lifetime. Students should see Mrs. Salvadori or Mrs. Sulbaran to pick up an information packet - applications are due by March 20.

Technology Update for Families

As new wearable devices enter the market, we want to keep our expectations clear for students. Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and any similar recording-capable eyewear may not be worn or used at school, as these devices can capture audio, video, or photos without notice. In addition, students will be asked to remove Apple Watches and other smartwatches during tests and exams to ensure academic integrity. Thank you for your support in maintaining a safe and fair learning environment.

Cell Phone Policy Reminders and Progressive Discipline

At the beginning of the school year, we shared that, in accordance with Ohio Revised Code, students are not permitted to use cell phones during the instructional day. Students may use their phones only during passing time and lunch.

  • If a student has their cell phone out during instructional time, the phone will be confiscated and sent to the Central Office. The student will receive a detention. The student may retrieve the phone at the end of the school day.
  • Beginning January 26, all cell phone infractions will reset to zero. Consequences for a first infraction will remain the same as outlined above.
  • A second cell phone violation after January 26 will require a parent or guardian to retrieve the phone from the Central Office at the end of the school day.
  • A third cell phone violation will result in a phone ban for the remainder of the school year. This means the student will be required to turn in their cell phone to the Central Office at the beginning of each school day and retrieve it at dismissal.
  • All classrooms have a designated, safe space for cell phones to be stored during instructional time. If a parent or guardian needs to communicate an urgent message to their child during the school day, they may contact the Central Office at 330.773.6658 for assistance.
  • If a student requires their cell phone to monitor a medical device such as an insulin pump, please reach out to Amanda Welsch.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we work to protect instructional time and support student focus.

ARE YOU RECEIVING HOBAN'S TEXT MESSAGES?

We have been testing a new communication system called SchoolStatus Connect. This system will be used to send voice and SMS messages for emergency and important school updates (i.e. inclement weather school closure messages). If you did not receive messages this week about the next day's spirit week theme, we ask you to fill out this form.

HOBAN HARVEST PANTRY

–Supporting Hoban Students and Families

The Hoban Harvest Pantry is supported through the generosity of our parents, alumni and students, and exists to help ensure that every member of our community has what they need to thrive.

Each Friday afternoon from 3 to 3:15 p.m., we host a drop-in pantry located under the balcony at the back of Barry Gym. The pantry offers gently used uniforms and school apparel, including sweatshirts and hoodies. All students are welcome to stop by and browse for items they may need. In addition to clothing, the pantry provides food and toiletries for students and families in need.

Students seeking assistance can speak with their school counselor, who will complete a confidential needs form on their behalf. Supplies are then discreetly distributed at the end of the school day.

We invite students to visit the pantry beginning Friday, Nov. 21. Please do not hesitate to reach out to a theology teacher, campus minister or a counselor if you are in need of any assistance.

Donations of Hoban clothing or toiletries can be dropped off in the Central Office or Campus Ministry Office labeled for Harvest Pantry. Thank you for your continued generosity and support. Together, we are living out the mission of the Holy Cross by caring for one another and ensuring that every student is supported and valued.
