Have you ever wondered how colleges evaluate applications?  Are you confused about the difference between early action, early decision and rolling admissions?  Do you wonder if your student should apply test-optional? Sometimes the application process can be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be.  

Please join us for an informational meeting in Moreau Ministry Hall regarding the college application process on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 6:30 p.m. In partnership with two admissions professionals, we will be answering these questions and reviewing the timeline for applications.

Oct. 3, 2024

Seniors are invited to attend the Mum Day decorating beginning at 7 p.m. on Oct. 3. Any student who wishes to stay the night at Hoban must return a signed permission slip. The senior class will be asking for donations and/or decorations. 

More information will be shared at a later date. 

Oct. 15, 2024

Each senior is required to schedule a time to get their senior portrait taken at Lyon’s Photography by Oct. 15. The portraits are used in the yearbook and the class composite. If taken by Oct. 15, there is no cost to the family for the portrait unless you decide to purchase prints or you request optional editing services. A sitting fee will be charged for portraits taken after Oct. 15. Read more

Monday, mARCH 3, 2025 | 6 p.m.

All senior parents are invited to attend a parent dinner. Members of the administration will provide senior event related information.

The cost to attend is $10 per person. Cash or checks can be submitted to Janet Wood or paid at the dinner.

March 7, 2025

Seniors must complete 25 hours of Christian service. All hours must be completed and submitted for verification and approval by Friday, March 7. This is a graduation requirement. All hours must be completed with the same organization and must involve working directly with the poor, vulnerable, differently-abled or marginalized.

NEW DEADLINE: APRIL 3, 2025

Congratulatory ads for your senior will be published in the 2024-25 Hoban Yearbook. The deadline for submission is March 13, 2025. 

• Each message can contain up to 200 characters and a color or black and white photograph of your student when they were young.
• Messages are printed in color. All photos must be submitted digitally via email to karafilise@hoban.org. Please be sure the photo is in a jpeg format with at least a minimum 200 pixels resolution, otherwise it may not print clearly.
• Payment: After completing the online form, mail completed order form and check for $50 (made out to Archbishop Hoban High School) to:

APRIL 28, 2025

The Hoban graduation program lists college scholarships for each student. Only the name of the scholarship is listed, not the dollar amount. Please email or deliver copies of those award letters to the Student Services Office. 

Please include all scholarship offers, even if you are not attending that awarding school. This would include merit scholarships, athletic scholarships and private scholarships. Please have these submitted by April 28, so they can be included in the graduation program. We will publicize a collective scholarship amount for the Class of 2025.

Seniors are encouraged to wear a t-shirt or sweatshirt to represent the college/university they plan to attend or other post-graduation plans. They will celebrate Mass as a class. Following Mass, photos will be taken of the class and each college group.

MAY 8, 2025

All tuition and fees must be paid in full through the Business Office.

MAY 5-16, 2025

Students who will take an advanced placement test will do so in early May. The schedule for the AP tests will be shared during the second semester.

MAY 13, 2025

COMMENCEMENT TICKETS

Students will receive two reserved seat tickets and eight general admission tickets. Students will receive their graduation tickets with their cap and gown on May 13 after the final all-school Mass if all requirements for graduation are satisfied.

WHAT IS AFTER-PROM?

After-prom takes place immediately following the dance on May 2 from 10:30 p.m.—1:30 a.m. at the University of Akron Rec Center. It is open to ALL Hoban seniors and seniors' guests to the dance, whether you attend Prom or not. It provides a safe, fun environment for the seniors to celebrate together as a class at the end of their high school career. 

The after-prom committee is tasked with raising close to $10,000 to cover the cost of the evening—venue, food, activities and prizes. We will hold various fundraisers throughout second semester.

• Caps and Gowns may not be modified or marked up in any way. Additional cords or stoles besides the ones already provided by Hoban may not be added to a student’s cap and gown.
• Gentlemen should be clean-shaven and wear dress pants, dress shoes (no tennis shoes), shirts and ties. No earrings.
• Ladies should dress in modest attire.
• All students must wear dress shoes – no exceptions!
